What: The High Court in Machakos will hear Petition 8 of 2017 challenging the constitutionality of the provisions of the FGM Act.
When: 11 June 2018.

The Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA) and Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network on HIV & AIDS (KELIN) are participating as Amicus in the proceedings. In the joint amicus brief they shall make arguments on state responsibility to enact a legislation to prevent FGM as a form of violence against women and offer comparative jurisprudence from other constitutional democracies on what such a legislation should contain.
