Health & Governance

Advocating for transparent rights-based systems of delivery and the full enjoyment of the right to health by all.

The Health and Governance thematic area, in line with KELIN’s Strategic Plan, works to ensure that transparent and accountable governance in health is enhanced for the implementation of quality, accessible and comprehensive services and protection of health-related human rights. We do this by working towards enhancing the availability, accessibility, acceptability and quality of health services for marginalized and vulnerable groups at national and county levels; strengthening rights holders’ ability to monitor transparency and accountability in health governance which includes health financing, financial systems, operations, procurement etc; and enhancing public participation in health governance at the county level.

The thematic area exists in recognition of the fact that good governance in health is necessary for the fulfilment of health-related human rights.

The thematic area therefore advocates for health and governance systems that are more accountable, transparent and fit for purpose for those made most vulnerable by the same systems.

How we work

HOW WE
WORK

Systems must serve the people they were created to serve! Holding duty bearers to account is part of the citizen’s role and we are determined to address systemic issues that bear negatively on the right to health.
