KELIN to Conduct Training on Documentation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and Violations

Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) have been gaining worldwide recognition in the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), the Beijing Platform of Action and more recently, the Sustainable Development Goals.  Further the Constitution of Kenya through Article 43(1) (a) guarantees the right to reproductive health.

Despite SRHR being recognized both nationally and internationally sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) remains one of the most widespread, socially tolerated human rights violation.

Informed by the above, on 6 and 7 March 2017, KELIN will conduct two one-day trainings for civil society organizations (CSOs), community based organizations (CBOs) and young women on documentation of sexual and reproductive health and rights violations.

The objectives of the training are to:

  1. introduce participants to the Kenyan legislative framework on sexual and reproductive health and rights;
  2. demonstrate the linkages between sexual and gender based violence and sexual and reproductive health and rights; and
  3. deliberate on recognition and documentation of sexual and reproductive health and rights violations within communities.
