KELIN Promotes Youth Leadership  in Advancing Digital Health Rights .

The true essence of leadership and how Young people can be centered on it are some of the elements tackled by KELIN and their partners, Restless Development from the 26th to 28th February 2024 in Diani, Kenya where they convened a Youth leadership training for its Community Advisory Team (K-CAT). The K-CAT is a group of twelve young professionals from diverse backgrounds recruited from across the country who are part of the participatory action research: The future of Human Rights in the digital age.

From September 2023, KELIN has supported and coordinated the participation of 12 young professionals within the K-CAT  in the Digital Health Rights Project DHRP. The DHRP project is being implemented through a consortium of 9 member organizations and aims to carry out qualitative research across four countries: Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, and Vietnam. The project implementation period is between June 2023 to May 2026 And focuses on the realization of equitable digital health rights, incorporating both national and global strategies and a key aspect of this project is to empower the young participants, enabling them to influence the development of digital futures grounded in human rights principles.

During this youth training, various forms of Youth leadership, that is, 360-degree leadership, value-based leadership, and transformative leadership, were explored. The Restless Development team guided the K-CAT through discussions on power dynamics, conducted personal and group leadership assessments, and encouraged them to set their individual leadership goals.

KELIN remains committed to its mission of promoting and protecting health related human rights for all by empowering communities and stakeholders. KELIN will continue to host such workshops that center the voices of young people  in driving solutions for positive change in society.
