Our Commitment to Safety, Dignity and Accountability
KELIN is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone who interacts with our organisation, programmes and partners.
We take a zero-tolerance approach to sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse; child abuse; discrimination; bullying; fraud; corruption; retaliation; and other forms of misconduct. All concerns, suspicions and allegations reported to KELIN will be taken seriously and addressed promptly, fairly and as confidentially as possible.
Choose the correct reporting pathway. Use the Safeguarding/PSEA route for sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment or harm to an adult at risk. Use the Child Protection route for any concern involving a child. Use the Whistleblowing route for fraud, corruption, retaliation, abuse of power or other policy and legal violations, and as an alternative where anonymity or independent escalation is needed.
Report a Concern
You may report something that you have experienced, witnessed or reasonably suspect. You do not need to investigate the matter or prove that abuse or misconduct occurred before making a report.
Select the reporting route that best matches the concern:
Safeguarding / PSEA
Sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment, or harm involving an adult at risk.
Whistleblowing
Fraud, corruption, retaliation, abuse of power, policy breaches, or an alternative confidential route.
Our Policies
1. Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse Policy
KELIN’s Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse Policy explains how we prevent and respond to conduct that may harm children, young people, adults at risk, employees, volunteers and communities participating in our programmes.

Report safeguarding or PSEA concerns to KELIN’s designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Focal Person at transparency@kelinkenya.org
A person who is not comfortable using the safeguarding channel, or who wishes to seek independent escalation or anonymity, may use the whistleblowing mechanism set out below.
2. Child Protection Policy
KELIN recognises its legal and ethical responsibility to protect children and young people who participate in, benefit from or otherwise come into contact with its programmes. The welfare and best interests of the child must remain paramount.
The Child Protection Policy provides guidance on appropriate conduct, prevention of abuse, safe engagement with children, identification of possible abuse, responding to disclosures and reporting concerns to the appropriate persons and authorities.
Report a child-protection concern first to KELIN’s designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Focal Person at transparency@kelinkenya.org. The concern should then be escalated internally or to the relevant authorities in accordance with KELIN’s Child Protection Policy, the level of risk and applicable law.
3. Whistleblowing Policy and Procedures
KELIN’s whistleblowing mechanism is its formal speaking-up process for employees, partners, service providers and members of the public who witness or reasonably suspect wrongdoing connected to KELIN.
Whistleblowing concerns may include fraud, bribery, corruption, theft, conflicts of interest, discrimination, bullying, retaliation, data-protection breaches, abuse of power, violations of the law, or breaches of KELIN policies and the Code of Conduct. It may also be used where a person is unable or unwilling to use the normal safeguarding or child-protection route.
Reports made in good faith are protected. KELIN will handle reports carefully, confidentially and without victimisation or retaliation against the person raising the concern.

Confidentiality and protection from retaliation
Reports will be handled as confidentially as possible. Information will be shared only with persons who need it to assess the concern, protect affected persons, undertake an investigation, make a referral or comply with the law. KELIN prohibits retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
