ADVOCACY FOR A RIGHTS-BASED AND PEOPLE-CENTERED TB PROGRAMMING

How do we ensure that TB responses leave no one behind?

To effectively address TB challenges, there is need for National TB programmes to systematically collaborate with affected TB communities to design, adapt and roll out programmes for equitable TB responses. There is also a need to prioritize TB response and prevention in National Strategic Plans as well as in funding proposals. All this is to provide a distinct and unique opportunity for TB affected communities, national TB programmes and other key decision makers to collaborate towards ensuring that there is equality in TB care and that TB care and support services are available, accessible and acceptable while further strengthening health and community systems.

It is against this backdrop that KELIN participated in the Global Fund Cycle 7 Writing Workshop held between 11th-14th July 2023 in Nyahururu. The workshop brought together members from the National TB programme, Ministry of Health, USAID, PEPFAR, TB ARC 11 Centre for Health Solutions Kenya, AMREF, affected TB Communities, TB champions and several CSOs. The main objective of the workshop was to review progress module narrative write ups, finalize sub-activities in order to generate costing and to populate and finalize grant documents and budgets for the Global Fund Round 7 grant application.

KELIN is keen to ensure that the funding requests integrates TB responses that are equitable, rights-based and people-centered while also leveraging existing community and health responses, to strengthen community health responses to TB.
