Countries showcase their Success Stories in promoting access to HIV & TB services and removing legal barriers

“As a result of KELIN’s 2nd Regional Forum on the Law, HIV, TB & Human Rights the Nigerian team has just concluded a Legal Environment Assessment of TB programming in the country with the support of Stop TB Partnership. There are now ongoing discussions on conducting a gender assessment and review for HIV and TB in an integrated manner to leverage on the progress of the two diseases.

These were the reflections of the Assistant Director and lead gender and human rights, at the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) Nigeria, at the end of two day regional monitoring and evaluation forum held in Mombasa County. The forum provided a platform for monitoring and documenting the project achievements and facilitating feedback between the Law enforcement Officers, Health Care Workers and the project implementation team.

Participants deliberated on different strategies of capturing project results and strengthening the knowledge sharing culture across the region. Additionally, the participants discussed collaboration opportunities and how to boost regional network connectivity. With regard to knowledge sharing the participants committed to ensure participation of Key Populations in regional policy, program development, implementation and Monitoring & Evaluation forums.

On boosting regional network connectivity, participants resolved to foster in country partnerships to reinforce results among civil society organisations, development partners, foreign missions, and state actors.

Moving forward, KELIN will consolidate all the in-country reports, to showcase the success stories of the regional grant. The document will be used to showcase the benefits of the regional grant and persuade likeminded donors to invest in such regional grants.
