Homa Bay County marks Zero Discrimination Day by launching SGBV Policy

On the 1st of March 2023, Homabay County launched a domesticated Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Policy, marking a great milestone in the County’s commitment to fight SGBV. The policy will continue to strengthen both legislative and legal frameworks in the County, towards the realization of a SGBV free society.  The policy also gives the County government an opportunity to mobilize resources and develop affirmative action interventions among other programs geared towards promoting gender equality, in line with the policy commitments.

As the County reaches a turning point, policy makers, duty bearers, partners, and the community now believe and have committed that Homabay County will no longer bear the brunt of SGBV.

KELIN participated in the launch and will continue to work closely with the County government within the existing CSOs frameworks to monitor and support its implementation. The main goal of the policy is to eliminate SGBV cases in Homa Bay County through a Multi sectorial framework in interventions and programming.
