KELIN Advocates for Inclusive VNR Process at CSO Inception Meeting

KELIN, actively participated in the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Voluntary National Review (VNR) Inception meeting hosted by the SDG Kenya Forum. The event brought together representatives from the National Government, International NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, and community-based organizations, with a collective aim of ensuring the comprehensive inclusion of CSOs in the VNR process.

Held on January 31, 2024, the forum served as a platform for stakeholders to collaborate and contribute to the progress assessment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Kenya National Bureau of Statistics made a presentation that offered insights into the 2024 VNR reporting.

KELIN, representing Goal 2 on Good Health and Wellbeing, emphasized the importance of CSO involvement in generating the VNR report. The organization underscored the need for collaborative partnerships among diverse organizations to achieve the SDGs collectively. KELIN also called for the inclusion of new organizations that had not participated in previous VNRs, emphasizing capacity strengthening for their effective engagement.

The event provided an opportunity for collective commitment to foster collaboration between CSOs, the government, and international partners to ensure a robust and inclusive VNR process; a process that marked a significant step towards building a united front for achieving the SDGs by 2030.

The VNR process provides an opportunity for KELIN to be part of taking stock of the progress on the SDGs and identify the gaps that exist as we work to their attainment. KELIN remains committed to advancing Good Health and Wellbeing and the broader agenda of sustainable development, promoting health, and addressing the well-being of communities in Kenya.
