KELIN Builds Capacity of Law Enforcement Officers on Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response in Homa Bay County

9th Feb 2023, KELIN conducts a training on gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, targeting the law enforcement officers drawn from Mbita and Rangwe sub-counties in Homabay County. The training is aimed at building their capacity on the legal frameworks and approach to GBV prevention and response mechanisms.

GBV is a violation of multiple rights including the right to life, the right to equal protection under the law, the right to equality in the family, and the right to the highest standard attainable of physical and mental health. GBV undermines the dignity, autonomy and security of the victims, and the overall social and economic development of communities and reinforces gender inequalities.

In order to promote prevention and enhance response mechanisms KELIN has adopted a multisectoral approach to GBV prevention and response through collaborating with other like-minded organizations and government agencies.
