Law Enforcement Officers Join the Fight in Preventing and Responding to Gender Based Violence in Homa Bay County

On the 9th of February 2023, KELIN with the support form DFPA conducted a one-day training on prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV) for law enforcement officers in Homa Bay. The officers drawn from Rangwe and Mbita sub-counties representing the project coverage areas, with a few from Homa Bay town were capacitated on the legal requirements in GBV interventions through a multisectoral approach.

From the training, it was emphasized that a multisectoral approach to GBV prevention and response both State and non-State actors to deliberately collaborate and pool resources to holistically fight the complexities of GBV from in communities. Being frontline workers in GBV prevention and response, law enforcement officers are critical partners in ensuring the promotion and protection of health-related human rights for all.
