KELIN reaches over 500 adolescent girls and young women through soccer in Kisumu and Homa Bay Counties

KELIN has given us the opportunity to exercise our talents in playing football. I am 24 years but I make a living out of playing football, I also serve as a coach for my team. The interactions have been very educative. I would like to encourage my peers to use the information given to live a responsible life.” Anne Dola, Jiu Pachi CBO, Kisumu East

These were the sentiments of one of the Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) during the last soccer clinic held on the 6 May 2018 in Kisumu East Sub County. The soccer clinics have been conducted in the seven sub counties of Kisumu County – Kisumu East, Kisumu West, Kisumu Central, Seme; Muhoroni, Nyando and Nyakach and eight Sub Counties of Homa Bay County – Rachuonyo, Homa Bay Town, Kasipul, Rangwe, Kabondo Kasipul, Suba North, Suba South and Ndhiwa.

These clinics have been a huge step forward in passing the messages on SRHR, land and property rights and HIV, with over 500 AGYW taking part in these clinics. KELIN working in collaboration with Wazito FC and community based organizations in Homa Bay and Kisumu Counties, is delighted at the strides taken to nurture the AGYW’s football skills in these counties.
