KELIN Signs A Framework For Collaboration With The East Africa Law Society On Advancing Sexual And Reproductive Health Rights.

The Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network on HIV & AIDS (KELIN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the East Africa Law Society (EALS). The MOU was signed in a meeting held on 3rd April 2023 at the KELIN office in Nairobi.

The MOU establishes a partnership between KELIN and EALS in the advancement of sexual and reproductive health rights. Specifically, the MOU provides a framework for collaboration between the two institutions for the promotion and protection of sexual and reproductive health rights at the national and regional level. This is in recognition that sexual and reproductive health rights is integral to realizing the right to health.

While officiating the signing ceremony, the Vice President of the East Africa Law Society, Mr. Ramadhan Abubakar, appreciated KELIN for choosing to work with EALS to foster an enabling environment for the realization of sexual and reproductive health rights at the EAC level. Further, the EALS Vice President pointed out that the need for similar partnerships to address misinformation and disinformation pertaining to SRHR.

‘’This MOU is a significant working tool to achieve the rule of law and to expand the work aimed at advancing sexual and reproductive health rights at the EAC level’’ the EALS Vice President remarked.
