From 31 August to 4 September 2026, the National TB Programme, Stop TB Partnership Kenya and KELIN convened a five-day working workshop in Nakuru to operationalize the Multisectoral Accountability Framework for TB (MAF-TB).
The meeting focused on translating the framework into practical action by finalizing the MAF-TB Operational Plan, developing clear Terms of Reference for the national coordination mechanism and county Technical Working Groups and defining the specific deliverables expected from counties.
A key focus of the discussions has been strengthening coordination across sectors and ensuring that accountability does not stop at the national level. The framework is intended to provide a clearer structure for government and non-state actors to coordinate, track and report on commitments to end TB.
The conversation is also opening the door for greater involvement of sectors such as education, transport and mining, recognizing that TB is influenced by social, economic and structural realities that extend beyond health facilities.
The five-day engagement has therefore been about more than developing documents. It has been about building a practical roadmap for collective action one that connects national commitments with county-level responsibilities and creates clearer mechanisms for coordination and follow-up.
As the meeting concluded, stakeholders left with a shared understanding that Kenya’s TB response must be joined-up, accountable and multisectoral. When sectors work together, commitments can move from paper to implementation and implementation can translate into stronger action for communities affected by TB.
